| 解説 | 20世紀のイギリス音楽を代表する作曲家ウィリアム・ウォルトンによる金管クワイヤー作品です。サー・ロバート・マイヤーの100歳の誕生日を祝して作曲され、12本のトランペットと打楽器のために書かれたオリジナル曲です。荘厳かつ華やかな響きが特徴で演奏者には音程、アーティキュレーション、アンサンブルの統一感が求められます。記念行事や発表会での演奏に適した祝祭的なレパートリーです。 (出版社によるオリジナル解説) Sir Robert Mayer， CH (1879 1985)， was a businessman， philanthropist， and patron of music， who in 1923 founded the highly successful Robert Mayer concerts for children. In 1954 he extended his patronage by creating Youth and Music. It was this organisation， through its joint chairman Lord Drogheda， that commissioned a fanfare from Walton to open a concert on 5 June 1979 at the Royal Festival Hall， celebrating Sir Robert’s centenary. The queen， who had attended his concerts for children when young， was present. Walton planned his fanfare as a short introduction to the orchestral national anthem and， with unlimited youthful forces at his disposal， scored it for 12 trumpets. The Salute was originated by OUP and read in proof by Walton， but has never been published until now. |
